The Day a Stranger Restored My Faith in People ✨

What’s a moment when a stranger completely restored your faith in people?

A few years ago, I was travelling after a long and exhausting workday. My mind felt like a crowded bookshelf, too many thoughts, too little peace. I was standing at a tea stall, searching my pockets, only to realise I had forgotten my wallet.

Before I could even explain myself, the man standing behind me smiled and paid for my tea.

It wasn’t the money that stayed with me.

What stayed with me was that he did it without making me feel embarrassed, without expecting gratitude, and without even asking my name. We shared a two minute conversation about books, life, and how small kindnesses matter more than grand speeches.

Then he left.

I never saw him again.

As a reader, I often find unforgettable characters inside books. That evening, I met one outside a book.

Whenever news and noise make the world seem colder than it is, I remember that stranger and his simple act of grace. Sometimes humanity is not restored by extraordinary heroes. Sometimes it is restored by someone who quietly says, “It’s okay, I’ve got this.”

That moment became a bookmark in my memory, reminding me that kindness still exists in the margins of everyday life. 📚☕
