What’s a cultural tradition from another country that you wish existed in yours?
Before borrowing a tradition from another country, I’d love to see us value our own inheritance a little more.
Every culture has treasures that become invisible simply because they’re familiar. The real challenge isn’t finding better traditions elsewhere, it’s preserving the wisdom, stories, and values already sitting on our doorstep.
As books often remind us, forgetting our roots is an expensive form of progress. One lesson I took from The Alchemist is that many people travel the world searching for treasure, only to discover it was closer than they imagined.
So, instead of importing a new tradition, I’d first choose a tradition of remembering where we came from. 📚
